A fab fourth.

It's been another relatively inexpensive yet fabulous weekend in Boston. While the 4th of July brought out all the confused tourists, it also brought my best friend up to the city for the weekend. With my best friends reunited, we were ready for an awesome 4th.

Upon her arrival on the night before the 4th, we hit up BK for some 50 cent cones. Or should I say 54 cent cones. These delicious cones are a hidden gem of the fast food market; a great soft serve for less than a buck in Boston? Sounds great to me.

Finally it was the 4th. We began with our own mini party, which was us making homemade pizza and a giant flag decorated cookie. One of my friends also brought Oreos dipped in chocolate, which were to die for.

After consuming as much food as humanely possible, we got ourselves together and headed out to see what the night had in store. We ended up scoring an invite to watch the fireworks on a rooftop right next to the Charles. Can you say perfection? The view was amazing and you could see the whole firework show projected above the river. Needless to say, it was an experience I will never forget. The night ended at Tasty Burger with cheeseburgers and cheesy fries, the right way to conclude an American celebration.

The day after the 4th. Tired, tourists everywhere, and sweltering hot. But we still thought it would be a good idea to walk all the way to the Public Garden and ride the swan boats. This is great for people of every age, although it was mostly parents and young children when we went. For $3, you can take a slow ride around the pond and take in the garden and the city of Boston.

After our ride, we went to Uno's for lunch. There are a lot of Uno's all over Boston. My favorite thing is their mini desserts. For less than $3, you can get a dessert that will give you a sugar rush but not leave you feeling like you want to explode.

Saturday was another busy day. We went kayaking on the Charles in the morning. While I'd gone before, it was farther out in the city, so there wasn't much of a view. This time, we were literally surrounded by the entire city and has an awesome view and great time kayaking. Charles River Canoe and Kayak has very affordable prices; for a double kayak it cost us $10 each for an hour. Definitely recommended for a great view of the city and a nice way to cool down on a hot day!

Finally, we ended the night by getting dressed up and going to dinner on the waterfront at Joe's American Bar and Grill. They have affordable prices and a great view and good people watching. We ended the night exhausted, but smiling from the fantastic weekend we had.

While I didn't spend much more than $50 the entire weekend, it was a priceless experience with great friends and I loved every second of it.

Until next time, stay frugal and stay classy.
